Terms of Service

Last updated: September 27, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using RONDAPP ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

RONDAPP is a financial coordination platform that helps groups of people organize rotating savings and credit associations (ROSCAs), also known as "tandas," "susus," "chit funds," or "rounds." The Service facilitates payment tracking, scheduling, and group communication.

Important: RONDAPP is a coordination and tracking tool. We are not a bank, financial institution, money transmitter, or investment advisor. We do not hold, transfer, or guarantee any funds.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use RONDAPP. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that all information you provide is accurate and truthful.

Geographic Scope: The Service is currently offered to residents of the United States only. Receiving payouts requires a U.S. bank account supported by Stripe. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you do so at your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with your local laws.

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

Usernames: During registration you must choose a unique @username. Usernames are permanent and cannot be changed after registration. Your @username is your public identifier within the Service and is visible to other users, including in member searches, invitations, and messaging.

Payout Account Setup: To receive pool payouts, you must connect a bank account through our payment partner, Stripe. Stripe may require identity verification as part of its onboarding process. You will not be able to receive payouts until this setup is complete.

5. Financial Responsibility

  • RONDAPP does not guarantee that any member will make their required contributions.
  • RONDAPP does not guarantee that payouts will be made on time or at all.
  • You participate in savings pools entirely at your own risk.
  • You are solely responsible for vetting and trusting the other members of your savings group.
  • RONDAPP is not liable for any financial losses arising from participation in savings pools.

Community Responsibility: RONDAPP is not responsible for members who decide to drop out of a pool. It is the responsibility of the Pool Organizer and the group members to ensure that the pool is created only with trusted individuals. We strongly recommend forming pools only with people you know and trust.

No Fiduciary Duty: RONDAPP, its employees, agents, and pool Organizers do not act as fiduciaries for any group member. RONDAPP acts strictly as a neutral record-keeping and coordination software. The Pool Organizer is an independent volunteer and is not an agent, employee, or representative of RONDAPP.

Dispute Resolution: All financial disputes arising from participation in a savings pool must be resolved directly between the group members involved. RONDAPP has no obligation to intervene, mediate, adjudicate, or enforce any payment obligation between members. RONDAPP's role is limited to providing coordination tools.

Default Risk: If one or more members fail to contribute as scheduled, the pool's payout chain may be disrupted. RONDAPP does not provide insurance, legal recourse, or collection services. Enforcement relies entirely on personal relationships and social accountability among group members.

Platform Role: RONDAPP acts solely as a communication and ledger platform, and has no authority, control, or physical access to the funds processed through third-party payment rails.

6. Payments & Fees

Payment processing is provided by Stripe. By using payment features, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service (stripe.com/legal/ssa).

ACH Contribution Processing Fee (1%): All contributions are processed via Bank Transfer (ACH) through Stripe. A pass-through processing fee of 1% is added on top of each contribution amount and charged directly to the contributing member (rounded to the nearest cent). For example, a $100 contribution will be charged as $101.00. This fee is passed through at cost to cover Stripe's ACH processing charges and ensures the full pool amount is preserved for the recipient. This fee is not retained by RONDAPP.

ACH Failure Fee ($4.00): When a Bank Transfer (ACH) contribution is returned or fails, Stripe charges RONDAPP a flat $4.00 failure fee per returned debit. RONDAPP passes this fee through at cost: the affected member's retry payment for that week includes the failed contribution, the applicable processing fee, and the $4.00 ACH failure fee — added once per failed attempt. The full breakdown is displayed before checkout. This fee is not retained by RONDAPP.

Card Retry Processing Fee (~2.9% + $0.30): Bank Transfer (ACH) is the standard method for contributions. If an ACH contribution fails, the affected member may retry that week's payment by card to settle faster (about 1 business day). Card retries carry Stripe's card processing fee of approximately 2.9% + $0.30, which is added to the retry amount, and are available only after a prior ACH failure for that week. This fee is passed through at cost and is not retained by RONDAPP.

Payout Fee (10% Total): When you receive a pool payout, a 10% service fee is deducted from the total collected amount. This fee covers RONDAPP's secure payment infrastructure, automated banking transfers, coordination tools, and Stripe's payout processing. For example, if the pool collects $100, the recipient receives $90.00 ($100 − $10.00 service fee). This fee is only deducted at payout — no payout fees are charged on contributions. Pools created before August 2026 retain the legacy 6% rate (5% platform + 1% processing). If a member holds more than one payout week in the same pool, the platform portion of this fee is charged on their first payout only — that member's later payouts are subject to the 1% processing portion alone.

RONDAPP does not charge any additional fees for creating or managing savings pools.

Missed or Failed Payments: If a scheduled contribution fails or is missed, the pool's automated payout for that period is paused until the outstanding contribution is resolved. The affected member is notified and can choose to retry the payment securely through the app — by bank (typically 2–5 business days to clear, plus the standard 1% ACH fee) or by card (typically about 1 business day, plus the card processing fee described above). Once the payment clears, the member's status is automatically updated to paid and the payout process resumes. Members cannot mark payments as paid manually — all payment statuses are verified against actual Stripe transactions.

Coordination of Settlement: Payouts are processed automatically once all contributions for the current period are verified. RONDAPP coordinates the settlement of external transactions between members' bank accounts — it does not administer or manage any bank account. Before releasing any payout, the system independently confirms the recipient's identity, completed Stripe onboarding, payout eligibility, and that no outstanding missed payments exist. Neither the organizer nor any member can manually trigger, accelerate, or redirect a payout.

Banking Settlement Timing: Contributions are processed via Bank Transfer (ACH) and typically take up to 5 business days to clear after a member submits payment (a bank retry after a failed debit typically takes 2–5 business days) — during this window the contribution shows as 'pending' until the bank confirms settlement. Once a payout is triggered, the transferred funds typically take 1–2 business days to arrive in the recipient's connected bank account. These timeframes are set by the banking rails, not by RONDAPP, and may vary due to weekends, bank holidays, or the recipient's bank.

6A. Spot-Swap Policy

Spot-Swap (Member Replacement): If a member wishes to leave an active pool before its completion, the only available exit mechanism is a Spot-Swap. Under a Spot-Swap: (a) The new member pays the Equity Transfer — the contributions made to date — through the app's secure card or bank checkout (not directly between members), minus a 10% RONDAPP platform fee; (b) The new member inherits the payout week and all future contribution obligations. A 1% ACH processing fee is added to the Equity Transfer at checkout, and the buy-in is non-refundable once the payment clears. Full details, including worked examples, are set out on the Spot-Swap Terms page, which forms part of these Terms.

No Guaranteed Replacement: RONDAPP does not guarantee that a replacement member will be found. If no replacement is found, the leaving member remains bound by the pool's contribution obligations.

Pool Organizer Responsibilities: By creating a pool, the Organizer accepts responsibility for managing the pool fairly and at no charge to members beyond the standard platform fees. Organizing a pool is free — RONDAPP does not charge organizers any additional fees.

Organizer-as-Member (Contribution-Exempt Participation): When creating a pool, the Organizer may choose to include themselves as a payout-only member. In this role, the Organizer holds a payout slot and receives a full payout when their assigned week arrives, but is exempt from weekly contributions — their payout is funded entirely by the other members' contributions. The standard payout fee (10%) still applies to the Organizer's payout. This option is voluntary and is selected at pool creation.

6B. Tax Compliance

Members are solely responsible for all tax reporting and compliance arising from their participation in a savings pool. ROSCA structures — including tandas, susus, and chit funds — may have varying tax implications depending on your jurisdiction, income level, and individual circumstances. RONDAPP does not provide tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. We strongly encourage you to consult a qualified tax professional regarding your obligations.

RONDAPP may be required by law to report certain transaction information to government authorities. By using the Service, you consent to such reporting as required.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Engage in fraudulent activity or misrepresent your identity or financial situation
  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts

8. Termination

Termination for Rule Violations: If you break the rules of the Service — including engaging in any Prohibited Conduct described in Section 7, committing fraud, repeatedly missing contribution obligations, or otherwise violating these Terms — we have the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account immediately, without prior notice and without refund of any fees paid.

We also reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for any other reason at our sole discretion. Termination does not release you from outstanding contribution obligations owed to your pool members.

Account Deletion: You may request deletion of your account through Profile Settings. However, account deletion is blocked while you are the organizer of an active savings pool or a member with unfulfilled payout obligations. You must complete or resolve all active pool obligations before deletion can proceed. Upon deletion, your personal information (name, email, profile picture, and messages) is permanently removed. Financial transaction records and contribution histories are retained and anonymized for a minimum of 7 years to comply with legal audit and regulatory obligations — these records are no longer linked to your identity.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. RONDAPP DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RONDAPP SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Stripe-Ledger Payment Model

RONDAPP uses a Stripe-ledger payment model. Member contributions are collected and held in Stripe's payment ledger — not by RONDAPP — until the payout for the current period is triggered. At no point does RONDAPP hold, custody, or control member funds. All funds reside within Stripe's regulated payment infrastructure throughout the entire process.

When a payout is triggered, Stripe transfers the collected funds to the recipient's connected bank account via Stripe Connect. Platform fees are deducted automatically at the time of payout processing via Stripe's application fee mechanism. RONDAPP coordinates the settlement of these external transactions between Stripe accounts but never takes custody of the funds itself.

RONDAPP is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any specific bank or financial institution. All banking, payment processing, and identity verification services are provided exclusively by independent third parties, principally Stripe, Inc., a licensed money services business. RONDAPP does not act as a bank, lender, or money transmitter and has no direct banking relationships of its own.

This architecture is designed to keep RONDAPP outside the scope of money transmission licensing requirements. However, members should be aware that payment processing is subject to Stripe's terms and conditions and may be subject to applicable financial regulations in their jurisdiction.

14. Intellectual Property

The RONDAPP name, logo, software, design, and all content provided through the Service (excluding user-generated content) are the exclusive property of RONDAPP and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose.

User Content: You retain ownership of content you submit (such as messages and profile information). By submitting content, you grant RONDAPP a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, and display that content solely as needed to operate and improve the Service.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless RONDAPP and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your participation in any savings pool; (c) your violation of these Terms; (d) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party; or (e) any dispute between you and another member.

16. Dispute Resolution with RONDAPP

Informal Resolution First: Before filing any claim against RONDAPP, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

Binding Arbitration: Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, except that you may assert claims in small claims court if they qualify.

Class Action Waiver: YOU AND RONDAPP AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.

This section does not apply to disputes between pool members, which must be resolved directly between the members involved as described in Section 5.

17. General Provisions

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.

Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any pool-specific disclosures you accept in the app, constitute the entire agreement between you and RONDAPP.

No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision.

Assignment: You may not assign or transfer these Terms. RONDAPP may assign its rights and obligations in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Electronic Communications: By using the Service, you consent to receive communications from us electronically, including notices, receipts, and disclosures, which satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
